The Kalamazoo Rail Scene in August 1993

Page 4 - Checker, VIA, Conrail and Grand Trunk all at work early Friday afternoon.

The Checker switcher at work, bringing in a steel coil car left by the local. This is
said to have been a Rock Island switcher and has now been sold by Checker Motors.

The Checker switcher crosses Mosel Avenue. Most of the Checker traffic was in High-cube
box cars. In 2007, Checkers has not used rail service for at least 5 years.

After switching in North Kalamazoo Yard, the local goes further north into Parchment and
is seen here tied up for lunch after crossing the Kalamazoo River bridge.

Back at BO Tower, a VIA Train blasts through, bound for Durand, Flint, Port Huron and
eventually Toronto.

Back from switching Green Bay Packaging, 7721 is pushing it's train onto the main and
then into Botsford Yard. For a reminiscence of working at BO Tower, click here.

The lead into Botsford Yard is just out of sight around the curve.

Now the Grand Trunk transfer job brings a couple of box cars out of Botsford Yard
heading for home rails and Kilgore Yard.

This job is a daily transfer from Kilgore Yard to Botsford Yard and return.
