On 22 May 2009 the Grand Elk had a minor derailment at Plainwell on the line to Otsego very close to the mainline. Fortunately there were no Hazmat cars on the train and damage to the track was minor. It occurred right at the derail. It took about 10 hours to rerail the cars and get the track serviceable. In the fourth photo down, data is being downloaded from the event recorder on the locomotive.
