At The Junction

Here is the layout of the junction in Plainwell. The line branching to the left goes to Menasha at Otsego (originally this went to Allegan and then Grand Rapids). The line branching to the right goes to the plastics factory and the Plainwell Central (originally it went to Kalamazoo). There was a diamond here at one point. A passing track is in the background and was usually used to store empty box cars for the paper mills.

Here is the other junction - 300 feet along the line to Otsego, a spur to Plainwell Paper branches off on the left. The Conrail caboose was stored here for many years until vandalism forced it to be stored in Grand Rapids and brought down on every local trip.

Here are a few photos of action in the area of the junction in 1993.
